THE ITALIAN RED
high performance and a perfect chassis in a racing look
The 850 Le Mans was presented at the Milan Motor Show in November 1975: it is the maximum evolution of the legendary V7 Sport.
Powerful, exclusive and compact, it is a pure Italian sporty bike, derived from the official bikes that raced at the Bol d'Or of Le Mans.
For the first time in the Guzzi house, the bike is carefully studied by a team of designer.
The small windshield tested in the wind tunnel, the semi-handlebars, the red color and the remarkable performance make it an extraordinary bike, fast and sporty but also reliable and suitable for touring.
Great attention is then paid to safety, with 3 brake discs (2 of 300 mm in front, one of 240 mm behind) and the great novelty of the Moto Guzzi patented integral braking developed with Brembo: the pedal operates the rear disc and the front left, while the second front disc is independent and controlled by the lever on the handlebar.
The low center of gravity of the Le Mans conveys great safety and control and allows path corrections; the excellent frame gives the feeling of riding on a track and is precise and stable in cornering even at high speed.
The elasticity of the powerful twin-cylinder induces also a relaxed and smooth ride, with a limited use of the gearbox: entering corners using almost exclusively the engine braking and get out fast hearing the engine rising gently is very satisfying.
The two-seat saddle is comfortable and the vibrations are more than acceptable, but it is very narrow in the rear: it is only suitable for a very slim passenger.
