THE QUEEN OF THE BIG ENGLISH TWIN-CYLINDRES,
she was the dream of most motorcyclists.
Having today the privilege of riding the Commando gives us unique sensations!
The Norton Commando was born in 1968.
The aesthetics are extraordinary and the performances are thrilling.
This version is soon called “Fastback” due to the innovative straight fiberglass tail, which gives it a touch of great sportiness and modernity.
The engine, gearbox and swingarm, rigidly connected to each other by large steel plates, are bound to the frame by means of elastic rubber elements in attempt, only partially achieved, to reduce vibrations.
Norton continues to employ the classic but archaic solution of the separate gearbox, which today adds appeal to the Commando's appearance.
The starter is by pedal and the gear lever is located on the right side of the engine, as was the case in the European production of the time.
This requires today motorcyclists a certain concentration to forget the automatisms we are used to.
But the pleasure of riding immediately pays off, thanks to exceptional handling and an unmistakable "voice": a real roar!
The burning accelerations of the Fastback, combined with the poor braking power of the front drum, require the skilful use of the powerful engine brake to slow down its stroke.
For these reasons, only an experienced motorcyclist will be able to safely enjoy the incredible performance of our authentic queen of the legendary old British bikes.
The seat, which cushions the tank laterally, contributes to revolutionizing the innovative aesthetics of this model and offers enough space for the passenger, but the vibrations are definitely felt ...
